Salman Khan is facing legal challenges due to his previous endorsement of pan masala products. A consumer court in Kota has issued a notice to the actor concerning allegedly deceptive advertisements that could be misleading young consumers across the country.
The complaint was lodged by Inder Mohan Singh Honey, a senior political figure and advocate at the Rajasthan High Court. In the Kota Consumer Court, Honey asserted that the company producing the pan masala endorsed by Salman has been involved in misleading advertising practices. The product, which was promoted as containing saffron infused cardamom and saffron infused pan masala, has the potential to mislead young people who look up to the actor as a role model.
The Core Issue With The Advertisement
According to reports, the petitioner stated in court that such claims are implausible since saffron, valued at Rs 4 lakh per kg, cannot be an ingredient in a product sold for just Rs 5. This massive price discrepancy forms the basis of the misleading advertisement claim. The argument is simple and logical: if real saffron costs so much, how can a product containing it be sold at such a cheap price?
A Message To Youth
In a confirmation to ANI, the petitioner remarked that Salman Khan serves as a role model for numerous individuals. We have lodged a complaint in the Kota Consumer Court, and notices have been dispatched for a hearing. Celebrities or film stars in other nations refrain from endorsing soft drinks, yet they promote tobacco and pan masala. I implore them not to convey the wrong message to the youth, as pan masala is a significant contributor to mouth cancer.
The statement highlights a growing concern about celebrity endorsements of potentially harmful products and their impact on impressionable young fans. When a massive star like Salman endorses something, millions of young people take notice and often follow suit.
Next Steps In The Legal Battle
The Kota Consumer Court has issued notices to the actor. Salman Khan and the manufacturing firm have not yet responded to the petition. According to reports, the next hearing is set for November 27, when the court will hear arguments from both sides.
What Salman Is Working On
