Several Indian celebrities have taken to social media to express their sorrow over the tragic train collision in Odisha. According to the latest update from NDTV, the devastating accident involved three trains – the Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express, the Shalimar-Chennai Central Coromandel Express, and a goods train. The collision resulted in the loss of at least 238 lives and left over 900 people injured. This incident is being described as the deadliest railway accident in the country in over two decades. The rescue operations are currently underway, and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has declared a one-day state mourning. Notably, Prime Minister Modi, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, Parineeti Chopra, Jr. NTR, Sunny Deol, and other celebrities are expressing their condolences for the victims.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, “Distressed by the train accident in Odisha. In this hour of grief, my thoughts are with the bereaved families. May the injured recover soon. Spoke to Railway Minister @AshwiniVaishnaw and took stock of the situation. Rescue ops are underway at the site of the mishap and all possible assistance is being given to those affected.”
