Salman Khan looks set to trade his larger than life actioner swagger for something far more offbeat, a superhero who is tired of being a superhero. As of March 5, 2026, industry chatter has crystallised into a clear creative direction: Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K. are developing a high concept superhero comedy with Khan that hinges on a deliciously contrarian idea, a caped do gooder who wants to retire.
The project, still in the development stage, positions Khan in a zone that mainstream Hindi cinema has rarely explored with a top star at its centre: broad comedy powered by superhero beats, with character humour driving the spectacle rather than the other way around.
The Latest Update
Box Office Worldwide has exclusively learned that Salman Khan is in talks for Raj and DK’s next, a quirky superhero film pitched in the space of Hancock.
The central hook is simple and instantly cinematic. In the film, Khan plays a superhero who wants to “hang up his cape and retire from saving the world”, having grown weary of repeating the same cycle of rescues. The catch is that peace does not last long. Circumstances keep dragging him back into action, “eventually pushing him into a larger conflict”, with the narrative designed as a “high-concept superhero comedy” that blends broad laughs with genre scale.
At this stage, Khan is said to have liked the idea and is waiting for the filmmaker duo to lock the screenplay. Budget, however, is a key consideration, with Khan keen that the film be mounted at the right price point rather than chasing an inflated superhero scale.
A narration is expected to take place in April 2026, and if the script lands as intended, the current plan is for the film to go on floors in November 2026. The film is being developed with Mythri Productions and Reel Life Entertainment, and it would mark Khan’s first collaboration with Raj and DK and with Mythri.
Salman Khan’s Recent And Upcoming Work
In the last few years, Khan has remained firmly in the theatrical tentpole space. He was seen in Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan (2023) and then returned as Tiger in Tiger 3 (2023), extending the popular espionage franchise.
Khan’s next confirmed feature release was Sikandar (2025), an action drama directed by A.R. Murugadoss and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, with Rashmika Mandanna co starring alongside him.
Now, the Raj and DK film offers a distinctly new tonal lane for Khan, especially if the makers manage to balance the comic writing with superhero scale. With an expected November 2026 start, the project is one to watch as it moves from concept to screenplay to casting and final greenlight.
