Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt are coming together for a new action film called Ganga Ram. The moment the news dropped, the internet blew up. Now, fresh details reveal what this film is really about.
Many thought Ganga Ram was the name of a single character. But that’s not true. It’s actually two names – Ganga and Ram.
Salman Khan Is Ganga, Sanjay Dutt Is Ram
A source told Bollywood Hungama, “After the Ganga Ram news came out, many began to wonder if Ganga Ram is the name of one person. Fans speculated that either Salman Khan or Sanjay Dutt will be playing Ganga Ram.”
The source cleared things up and added, “Ganga and Ram are the names of two principal characters. While Salman Khan will essay the role of a character named Ganga, Sanjay Dutt will reprise the role of a man named Ram.”
So, it’s not a solo act. We’re getting a full-on action ride with both stars leading the charge.
Ganga Ram Touted As A Wholesome Entertainer
The source also said, “Ganga Ram is mounted as a wholesome entertainer and will have lots of action. The makers are trying to ensure that the audience gets its money’s worth when they come to see this film starring two macho stars of Bollywood.” This means fans can expect high-octane scenes and major on-screen drama.
Salman Khan Films will back the project. Krish Ahir, who steps in as director, will lead the film. Though this is his first film as a director, Krish has worked closely with Salman’s production team for over five years. He’s been an associate on many projects, and now he gets his own big break.
Salman had already hinted at this team-up during the promotions of his Eid release Sikandar, and it’s confirmed now.
For the unversed, fans seem disappointed with the title and have voiced their concerns on social media. Many users have urged the actor to change the film’s name and opt for a better title. They’ve also requested him to bring a skilled director on board for the project instead of a debutant.
This comes after the disappointment following the release of Sikandar. Even though the film wasn’t a remake as falsely claimed in negative publicity by anti-Salman fandoms, the story and execution felt outdated. The film received heat from critics and audiences.
Despite this, it performed well initially due to Salman Khan’s star power and box office appeal, but it eventually crashed owing to negative word of mouth.
