Salman Khan, Vamshi Paidipally and Dil Raju Announce Big-Ticket Action Drama, Shoot Begins Next Month

Salman Khan has officially announced a new action drama that brings him together for the first time with director Vamshi Paidipally and producer Dil Raju. The collaboration, unveiled by the trio on social media, has immediately emerged as one of the biggest mainstream film announcements in recent weeks, with the project now being positioned as a major theatrical event for 2027.

The film will be produced by Dil Raju under the banner Sri Venkateswara Creations and is set to go on floors next month. With Salman Khan leading the cast, Vamshi Paidipally directing, and Dil Raju backing the project, the film is being mounted as a large-scale action entertainer designed for the big screen.

The film officially goes on floors in April

The announcement was made by Salman Khan, Vamshi Paidipally and Dil Raju through their respective social media handles, confirming their landmark collaboration. The makers have also revealed that filming is scheduled to begin in April, setting the project in motion much sooner than expected.

The combination has drawn attention not just because of Salman Khan’s star power, but also because it marks the first time he is collaborating with both Vamshi Paidipally and Dil Raju. The makers are positioning the film as a high-octane theatrical spectacle, with the script expected to explore a new side of Salman Khan as an actor while still operating within the scale and mainstream appeal associated with his biggest commercial entertainers.

Vamshi Paidipally comes into the film with a track record of mounting large-scale, emotionally driven commercial cinema. He made his directorial debut with Munna, starring Prabhas, and went on to direct Brindavanam with Jr. NTR, Yevadu featuring Ram Charan, and the widely celebrated Maharshi, which earned a National Film Award. He later expanded his reach further with Vijay’s Varisu, reinforcing his standing as a filmmaker known for combining emotion, scale and mass appeal.

Dil Raju, meanwhile, brings the weight of a prolific production legacy through Sri Venkateswara Creations. With a slate of over 60 films, he has built a reputation for backing mainstream entertainers that balance emotional storytelling with commercial scale. He has also won two National Film Awards as a producer for Maharshi and Shatamanam Bhavati. Notably, Vamshi Paidipally and Dil Raju have previously collaborated on five successful films, all of which went on to become major commercial successes.

Salman Khan’s Recent and Upcoming Work

Salman Khan remains one of Hindi cinema’s biggest stars, but his recent box office run has been uneven. While Tiger 3 emerged as a below average grosser, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan was classified as an average performer at around Rs 110.53 crore, and Sikandar underperformed significantly, finishing its run at about Rs 103.45 crore and being marked a disaster. This upcoming collaboration therefore arrives at an important point in his career, as Salman looks to regain strong theatrical momentum with a new large-scale action vehicle.

On the upcoming slate, his previously announced war film Battle of Galwan has now been retitled Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace. The new title was officially revealed by Salman Khan Films, and reports around the announcement indicate that the film’s release plan has been pushed, with a fresh release date still awaited.

Against that backdrop, the new Vamshi Paidipally and Dil Raju project becomes an especially notable addition to Salman Khan’s line-up. It not only marks his first collaboration with both names, but also positions him once again in the kind of mainstream theatrical action space that has historically delivered some of his biggest successes.
