Sanjay Dutt To Reprise His Role As ‘Raghu’ In Gangster Drama Vaastav 2; Young A-List Actor To Play The Parallel Lead

Sanjay Dutt will reportedly return as Raghu in Vaastav 2, with a young A-list actor joining as the parallel lead.

Sanjay Dutt is set to return as Raghu, the iconic character from the 1999 cult classic Vaastav: The Reality. Directed by Mahesh Manjrekar, the original film is often hailed as a milestone in Indian gangster cinema.

Now, the duo is reportedly teaming up again for Vaastav 2, a sequel that promises to expand the world of the gritty gangster drama.

Sanjay Dutt And Mahesh Manjrekar Set To Reunite For Vaastav 2

According to sources, Mahesh Manjrekar has developed a fresh idea that aligns perfectly with the spirit of Vaastav. However, it will be more of a franchise entry than a direct continuation of the original story.

“Mahesh has cracked a concept that resonates with the world of Vaastav and has discussed it with Sanjay Dutt. Sanju is excited to revisit the role of Raghu. Right now, Mahesh is developing the screenplay, and once that’s ready, the next steps will follow,” shared a source close to the project to Pinkvilla.

Sequel To Be A Two-Hero Film, Script In Development

The sequel will reportedly be produced by Subhash Kale, and the team aims to begin filming by the end of 2025. Interestingly, Vaastav 2 will feature a two-hero narrative, with plans to cast a young A-list actor as the parallel lead.

“The script is still in development, but the idea is to create a high-octane gangster drama with powerful dialogues and intense action. The younger actor will bring a fresh dynamic to the story. Casting decisions are expected by mid-2025,” the source added.

Sanjay Dutt and Mahesh Manjrekar have shared a long-standing creative partnership, having collaborated on films like Hathyar, Kurukshetra, Viruddh, and Vaah! Life Ho Toh Aisi. Their reunion for Vaastav 2 has sparked excitement among fans eager to see what the duo will deliver this time.

While the specifics of the story remain under wraps, insiders hint that Vaastav 2 could become one of the biggest gangster films in Indian cinema. The makers are determined to maintain the essence of the original while adding larger-than-life elements to captivate a modern audience.
