Sara Ali Khan and Vijay Varma have joined the cast of Homi Adajania’s ‘Murder Mubarak’. Both actors have signed the lead roles which were previously reserved for Janhvi Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur.
According to sources, Sara and Vijay were immediately locked for the role in the movie after the previous rumored actors dropped out. Contrary to popular belief, Arjun Kapoor was never considered for the male lead, as the director and producers preferred Vijay Varma to star with Sara. Pankaj Tripathi and Dimple Kapadia are still in the film, and casting for other supporting roles is still ongoing. The film is expected to be an ensemble cast drama in the vein of the Hollywood thriller Knives Out.
Murder Mubarak is based on the bestselling novel ‘Club You to Death’ by Anuja Chauhan. It’s a gripping murder thriller set in the fictional world of the elitist, antique, and most respected Delhi Turf Club (DTC), and it follows the lives of two ex-lovers as they assist ACP Bhavani Singh in solving a murder case that occurs on the club’s premises. Sara and Vijay will play ex-lovers with a lot of history and resentment and no proper closure, while Pankaj Tripathi will play ACP Bhavani Singh, a genius, garrulous, well-mannered 50-year-old cop. The character details for Dimple Kapadia are unknown at this time, but according to Peepingmoon, it is believed she will play a powerful role similar to those she has played in previous Homi Adajania films.
Sara Ali Khan will star with Vijay Varma for the very first time. Homi Adajania, the director, has already started pre-production and will begin filming in April 2023.
