In 2018, Sara Ali Khan made a splash in Bollywood with dual debuts in Kedarnath and Simmba, which hit theatres within a few weeks of the gap between each other. The filming schedules for these two movies overlapped considerably, creating a challenging scenario for the rising star.
During production, a scheduling conflict arose when Sara’s management allocated dates initially reserved for Kedarnath to the makers of Simmba after a key team member left Kedarnath.
This decision caused a stir as Kedarnath, directed by Abhishek Kapoor, faced delays and complications. As a result, Kapoor took legal action against Sara, seeking compensation of Rs. 5 crores for the scheduling mishap.

Reflecting on this challenging period, Sara told Mid-day, “In May 2018, I was set to begin shooting Simmba while Kedarnath, my debut film, was still in progress. There were overlapping dates, and I found myself in the middle of a legal battle, nervous because I didn’t have Rs. 5 crores.” The situation was made even more stressful as Sara juggled personal challenges, with her mother, Amrita Singh, attending to family matters in Delhi.
Describing the surreal experience of being served legal papers, Sara said, “I was at a loss for what to do. My management handled the court proceedings while I continued with my commitments on set, sometimes even with the filmmakers present.” Fortunately, an out-of-court settlement was reached swiftly, thanks to the intervention of Rohit Shetty and Abhishek Kapoor.
“Sara shared, “Rohit sir and Gattu sir met, along with Ranveer Singh, who swiftly excused himself from the room. It was a bit awkward, but they quickly resolved the matter. The makers of Kedarnath required only a few adjusted dates, which Rohit sir graciously accommodated.” With the legal issues resolved, Sara was able to focus on her demanding schedule, shuttling between Hyderabad and Mumbai for simultaneous shoots of Simmba and Kedarnath.

Sara Took Her Assistant Zarna‘s Help To Ease The Tensions
To smooth over any remaining tensions, Sara took a proactive step on set. “One day, I asked my assistant, Zarna, to prepare coffee for Abhishek Kapoor, who appreciated the gesture. After that, filming proceeded smoothly,” Sara recounted, indicating that the gesture helped mend any strained relationships resulting from the legal dispute.
Sara concluded by stating that there are no hard feelings between her and Abhishek Kapoor. “He had his reasons, and we’ve moved past it.”
