Sarfira Box Office Collection Day 2: Akshay Kumar’s Film Jumps By 80% On Saturday, Rakes In Rs 7 Crore

Akshay Kumar‘s latest cinematic outing, Sarfira, took off on a subdued note due to adverse weather conditions across Maharashtra. However, as the day progressed, evening and night screenings witnessed a remarkable surge in attendance, especially in urban areas, fuelled by glowing reviews.

Sarfira Junps By 80% On Day 2

The film kicked off its theatrical run with a modest Rs 2.5 crore on its opening day. Since then, it has garnered strong word-of-mouth, with both audiences and critics showering it with praise.

This positive buzz translated into a notable 80% increase in collections on its second day, raking in Rs 4.50 crore at the box office and bringing its total domestic earnings to Rs 7 crore.

Akshay Kumar and Radhikka Madan have delivered standout performances in their challenging roles, elevating Sarfira to a captivating and highly entertaining cinematic experience.

According to reports, the film recorded an overall 21.76% occupancy on Saturday, peaking at 26.31% during evening shows. Sarfira, made on a comprehensive budget of Rs 100 crore inclusive of prints and advertising costs, now aims to accelerate its earnings during its crucial first week in cinemas.

The film faces stiff competition from Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2, which also made a strong entry at the box office. The Shankar directorial amassed Rs 25.6 crore on its opening day and followed up with Rs 16.7 crore on day 2, achieving a total domestic collection of Rs 42.3 crore, with the Hindi version contributing Rs 2.4 crore.

Directed by Sudha Kongara, Sarfira stars Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal, and Radhika Madan, and is a remake of the acclaimed Tamil film Soorarai Pottru (2020), based on GR Gopinath’s memoir, Simply Fly: A Deccan Odyssey, which won multiple accolades at the 68th National Film Awards.

The narrative revolves around Veerendra “Veer” Mhatre (Akshay Kumar), a former pilot driven by the ambition to establish a low-cost airline to serve the underprivileged. His journey is fraught with challenges posed by rival airline owners who threaten both his business and the safety of passengers.

Running at 153 minutes, Sarfira carries a U/A rating, suitable for viewers above 12 years with parental guidance. The film premiered today, July 12, 2024, across cinemas nationwide.
