Selfiee Movie Review: Akshay Comes With An Easy Breezy Entertainer After A Long Time; Emraan Is A Delight To Watch

The movie received low-advances prior to the release, staring a bad opening in comparison to others films of Akshay in recent years

Directed by Raj Mehta and produced by Dharma Productions, Prithviraj Productions, Star Studios, Magic Frames & Cape of Good Films, Selfiee stars Akshay Kumar, Diana Penty, Emraan Hashmi, Nushrratt Bharuccha. It released on February 24 across the country.

Plot

Akshay plays superstar Vijay Kumar and Emraan, a superfan as Om Prakash Aggarwal, who has a lovely family with a 10-year old son. He has to get Kumar’s license done quickly and beseeches for a selfie with Vijay at the office because he is a great fan. The superstar, who believes Agarwal is a sincere fan, goes to meet him. However, things go terribly wrong as the media comes and it makes a mountain out of a molehill. The misunderstanding leads to a brawl, becoming a prime time news and public enjoying it.

Performances

Akshay is superb in performance and Emraan delivers a spectacular one. Abhimanyu & Meghn Malik as Suraj and Kamla Tiwari are fine in their acting skills. Nushrratt as Minty & Diana as Vijay’s wife (Naina) seem impressive.

Analysis

Since it is the remake of Malayalam film ‘Driving Licence’, Raj has tried to add tadka, humour and is slightly different from the original. The cinematography is suitable and crazy dialogues, including “masoode wali smile” works better when it comes to laughter.

Verdict

The movie received low-advances prior to the release, staring a bad opening in comparison to others films of Akshay in recent years. A watchable movie this weekend if you are looking for a comedy and okay with Akshay doing remakes.
