Shah Rukh Khan and Farah Khan are back together for a sequel to their 2004 hit Main Hoon Na. The film was a massive success, marking the first time the duo worked together. Now, nearly 20 years later, they’re set to revisit the much-loved characters, with the script still being worked on.
The new project is being developed by Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan’s production company, Red Chillies Entertainment, the same company behind the original film.
Shah Rukh Khan Is Excited About The Idea Of Main Hoon Na Sequel
A source close to the project told Pinkvilla, “Main Hoon Na is very special to Shah Rukh and Gauri. It’s the first film they produced together, and it holds a special place in their hearts. Farah has come up with an exciting idea for the sequel, and Shah Rukh is thrilled with the direction she’s planning to take it.”
Farah Khan is collaborating with her team of writers and the Red Chillies team to create the screenplay.
SRK Is Doing THIS To Ensure The Sequel Surpasses Original’s Expectations
Though Shah Rukh Khan is excited to return to Main Hoon Na, he’s focused on ensuring the sequel lives up to the first film’s success. Insiders share that SRK is determined not to rush the process.
The source said, “He’s aware of the immense fan following the original film has, and he doesn’t want to make a sequel just for the sake of it. He’s asked Farah and his writing team to create something truly exceptional—something that builds on the first film’s success. He expects to review the first draft by mid-2025 before making a final decision.”
This project will mark the fourth time Shah Rukh and Farah have worked together. Their past collaborations, Main Hoon Na, Om Shanti Om, and Happy New Year, were all big hits. If the sequel moves ahead, it will continue their strong partnership, and fans are eager to see what they create next.
Aside from this, Shah Rukh Khan has a packed schedule. He will star in King, directed by Siddharth Anand, which is set for a 2026 release. He’s also working on Pathaan 2, the next film in the YRF Spy Universe, which is still in the writing stage.
