Shah Rukh Khan Drops Kickass First Look of Aryan Khan’s ‘Ba***ds of Bollywood’, “Kyuki Picture Toh Saalon Se Baaki Hai, Lekin Show Toh Ab Shuru Hoga”

The long‑anticipated Netflix venture from the Khan family has officially begun its countdown. Shah Rukh Khan recently shared an intriguing tweet in Hindi, “Aap ne maanga aur Netflix ne poora kar diya….yeh thoda zyaada ho gaya nahi? Par aadat daal lo…..kyunki…. The Ba***ds of Bollywood Preview will be out on August 20.” This playful exchange sets the stage for one of the most buzzworthy OTT releases of 2025.

Two months earlier, Netflix had unveiled the show in its India Originals slate for 2025, confirming that The Ba***ds of Bollywood is among its flagship offerings for the year. The series marks Aryan Khan’s directorial debut, with production led by his parents under Red Chillies Entertainment.

Ba***ds of Bollywood First Look

The first look video opens on a nostalgic note with the iconic line “Ek ladki thi deewani si, ek ladke pe wo marti thi” playing against the visuals, before Aryan Khan cuts in with a darkly comic twist: “Aur achanak ek truck aaya aur usko kuchal kar chala gaya… thoda zyaada ho gaya na? Aadat daal lo kyunki mera show hi kuch aisa hai.” He further adds that he will give “bahut zyaada pyaar aur thoda sa vaar,” ending with a cheeky nod to his father’s famous dialogue—“Kyuki picture to saalon se baaki hai, lekin show to ab shuru hoga.” The visuals showcase Lakshya, the show’s lead, strutting on red carpets, facing flashing cameras at awards nights, and slipping into high-octane action, setting the tone for a series that is equal parts satire and spectacle.

Behind the Lens: Aryan Khan’s Bold Beginning

Aryan Khan, an entrepreneur‑turned‑filmmaker, steps behind the camera as showrunner, writer, and director. According to his profile, he took on all three roles for this Bollywood‑centric saga, co‑creating and co‑writing the series with Bilal Siddiqi and Manav Chauhan. The narrative reportedly follows an ambitious outsider and his friends navigating the chaotic, glamour‑filled world of Hindi cinema. The cast includes Lakshya, Sahher Bambba, and Bobby Deol, with Shah Rukh Khan appearing in a cameo role.

Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos has already weighed in after viewing multiple episodes, calling the show “really fun” and stating that he is “four episodes in”. Such praise from the top of the OTT ladder only heightens expectations.

Reactions from Bollywood insiders have been enthusiastic. Karan Johar, in an all‑caps Instagram story, credited Aryan’s effort, calling it a “Baap show”. Rumored to be romantically linked with Larissa Bonesi, Aryan also received public praise from her, she reposted the teaser and called him “number one,” fueling social media chatter.

The casting director revealed, “It was a long process because Aryan is very particular about everything that he wants, which is a good thing.” He added, “He doesn’t let go of any character, however big or small it is. He has a very clear brief for every character. Every character is written well.”

The preview release, as teased by SRK, is scheduled for August 20, a date that aligns neatly with his mention of “preview” in the tweet, generating wide anticipation.
