Sources close to the development state that Farah Khan has emerged as a serious contender to direct Shah Rukh Khan’s next film after King, with a commercial entertainer idea that has been discussed in the space of a double role. The project has been linked to the tentative title Main Hoon Na 2, and the scripting is still in progress.
At the same time, Shah Rukh Khan has also been approached for a big budget, old school romantic drama with a mature lens, a narrative that has resonated strongly with him. As per the information in the source report, the film is not positioned as a throwback template but as a romance rooted in a more adult world, built on emotion and drama. A source is quoted as saying, “This isn’t a rehash of his earlier roles… it’s an age-appropriate narrative set in a more mature world of love, layered with emotional depth and drama. The film positions him as the quintessential poster boy of romance.”
The same report adds that SRK is excited about both options and is expected to take a final call by June, after assessing where both scripts stand. “Once he has had ample time to evaluate both scripts and their development progress. And he continues to meet and hear many other top names from the Indian Film Industry.”
The source also adds, “After delivering back-to-back action spectacles, Shah Rukh Khan is keen to step away from physically demanding roles, following medical advice and minor injuries sustained over the past few years.
