India’s dream of winning the World Cup 2023 came to a crushing end on Sunday as they lost to Australia by 6 wickets at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
The defeat left millions of Indian fans heartbroken and disappointed, including many Bollywood celebrities who had been rooting for the Men in Blue throughout the tournament. Some of the prominent stars took to social media to express their emotions and support for the Indian team.
Shah Rukh Khan’s message to Team India
Shah Rukh Khan, who was present at the stadium with family and friends, wrote: “The way the Indian team has played this whole tournament is a matter of honour and they showed great spirit and tenacity. It’s a sport and there are always a bad day or two. Unfortunately it happened today….but thank u Team India for making us so proud of our sporting legacy in cricket…u bring too much cheer to the whole of India. Love and respect. You make us one proud Nation.”
Ranveer Singh and Deepika post after the World Cup loss
Ranveer Singh wrote that while everyone is gutted that Team India lost, their performance has been commendable. “Some highs, some lows. Some good days, some bad days. Some wins, some losses. That’s sport. That’s life. We are all gutted, but let’s applaud our boys for giving it their all @indiancricketteam,” wrote Ranveer.

Vicky Kaushal applauds Team India
Vicky Kaushal also applauded the Indian cricket team, and wrote that it’s the best team out there. He expressed that he will forever be proud of the team. “Still the best team out there. The skill and character, grit and grace shown by #TeamIndia in this CWC has been phenomenal. Forever proud of you guys! INDIA… INDIA!!!” wrote Vicky.

Ayushmann Khurrana, was also seen at the stadium, tweeted: “Just a bad day at the office for team India. 😔🇮🇳 You guys will always be remembered as the toughest side of #WorldCup2023 💪 Thank you for the adrenaline! Well played! 🙌🇮🇳” He also posted an image that said, “Failure, not opposite of success, it is a part of success.
