Shah Rukh Khan’s King has quietly shifted into a marathon mode, and the latest filming update makes it clear that Siddharth Anand is mounting the action thriller on a scale meant for the big screen. As of March 2026, the unit is stationed at Ellora Studios in Thane, where a massive market set has been erected for a key stretch of the film.
While the makers are keeping story specifics tightly guarded, the current schedule is tied to the film’s flashback portion, which is understood to feature Shah Rukh Khan, Suhana Khan and Rani Mukerji, along with Raghav Juyal and Abhishek Bachchan as part of the broader narrative thread that sets up the film’s emotional stakes and conflict.
Latest Update: Market Set Shoot Underway At Ellora Studios, Thane
The team has been filming for the last three days on the grand market set at Ellora Studios, Thane. This comes alongside chatter that the flashback block itself was mounted as an extended, continuous shoot that ran for over seven days, reflecting the scale of staging and coordination involved when multiple principal cast members are scheduled together.

What is confirmed, however, is that King remains in active production and is headlined by Shah Rukh Khan with Suhana Khan in a major role. The film is directed by Siddharth Anand and produced by Red Chillies Entertainment along with Siddharth Anand’s Marflix Pictures, placing it firmly in the tentpole zone for Hindi cinema.
A major date on the calendar is locked too. King is scheduled to release theatrically on December 24, 2026.
Rani Mukerji’s association with the project has also been widely noted since her casting news broke in 2025, with the actor coming on board for an extended cameo that is designed to add emotional depth to the story. The film’s ensemble further includes Deepika Padukone, Arshad Warsi, Jaideep Ahlawat, Raghav Juyal and Saurabh Shukla, among others, making it one of the most stacked line-ups currently in production.

Shah Rukh Khan last dominated the theatrical box office in 2023 with Pathaan, Jawan and Dunki, completing one of the biggest single-year runs for a Hindi film star in recent times. He did not have a new theatrical release in 2024 or 2025, with King positioned as his next major big screen outing.
On the cast front, Suhana Khan made her acting debut with Zoya Akhtar’s Netflix film The Archies (2023), and King is her first major theatrical project. Rani Mukerji’s recent headline turn were Mardaani 3 and Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway (2023). Abhishek Bachchan, meanwhile, confirmed his involvement in King in February 2026, signalling his continued run of high-profile projects across theatrical and streaming spaces.
