Shah Rukh Khan Was The First Choice For ‘Wanted’ Released In 2009. Here’s Why He Rejected The Offer?

Khan believed that nobody could act better than Mahesh.

Wanted, a film directed by Prabhu Deva and produced by Boney Kapoor released in 2009 starring Salman Khan, Ayesha Takia, Mahek Chahal, Vinod Khanna, Anil Kapoor, Govinda, Aseem Merchant, Anupam Shyam and others.

Salman Khan was going through a rough patch because of unperforming movies like Shaadi Karke Phas Gaya Yaar, God Tussi Great Ho and Yuvvraaj until Wanted happened that came as a breakthrough. However, he was not the first preference for the film.

King Khan, also known as SRK (Shah Rukh Khan) was the first to be approached for the lead role in this film. He rejected the offer. Wondering why? Since Wanted is a remake of Pokiri, a telugu film by South actor Mahesh Babu. Khan believed that nobody could act better than Mahesh and he didn’t want to replicate Mahesh’s style.

Then Salman Khan was taken into consideration and he signed the agreement for Wanted as a favour to Boney. Salman acts as Radhe in the action-thriller film, which also completes 13 years today in Bollywood.
