Shah Rukh Khan, the superstar of Bollywood, will be next seen in his next film Dunki, directed by Rajkumar Hirani. The film is slated to release on Christmas 2023 and clash with Prabhas starrer Salaar.
Official: Dunki not postponed
Amid the rumours of Dunki’s postponement to avoid clash with Salaar, makers have confirmed that the film will hit the theatres on December 22, 2023. The makers have also confirmed that the teaser of the film will be released soon.
Dunki is a social comedy that revolves around the theme of immigration and the struggles of people who want to come back home. The film also stars Taapsee Pannu as the female lead. Dunki is one of the most anticipated films of 2023, as it marks the first collaboration between SRK and Hirani, who is known for his blockbuster films like Munnabhai MBBS, 3 Idiots and PK.
Recently, there were rumours that Dunki might get postponed to avoid a clash with Prabhas’ action thriller Salaar, which is also slated to release on December 22. However, the makers of Dunki have quashed these rumours and issued a statement saying that the film is on track for its Christmas release.
Shah Rukh Khan confirmed Dunki’s release
Earlier, Shah Rukh Khan also confirmed in his last release Jawan’s Success Meet that Dunki will be released on Christmas this year. The actor said, “We started on 26 January, Republic Day, it’s a good, auspicious day. Then on Janmashtami – Lord Krishna’s birthday – we released this film. And now on Christmas, we will bring Dunki. National integration rakhta hoon (I keep national integration).”
Talking about the film, Shah Rukh Khan said in an AMA session on Twitter, “#Dunki is all funny and emotional. It’s Raju sirs world mere bhai. Thoda sa action maine daal diya hai…pata nahi sir rahein na rakhein….woh editor bhi hain na.”
Shah Rukh Khan’s blockbuster comeback after a long hiatus
SRK, who was away from the big screen for a while, made a blockbuster comeback with three films in 2023. He was first seen in Pathaan, an action film directed by Siddharth Anand, which released in January 2023. He then appeared in Jawan, a thriller directed by Atlee, which was released in September 2023. Both films have already crossed Rs 1000 crore at the worldwide box office and created new benchmarks. Dunki will be his third and final release of the year.
Fans of SRK are eagerly waiting for the teaser of Dunki, which is expected to be out soon. The film is produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and Jio Studios.
