Shahid Kapoor, who has been impressing the audiences with his versatile performances in OTT projects like Farzi and Bloody Daddy, is all set to explore a new genre in his next film. The actor has reportedly signed a mythological epic based on the Mahabharata for Vashu Bhagnani’s Pooja Films.

Shahid set to do a mythological epic film
According to a report in Pinkvilla, Shahid has been signed by Pooja Films for this mythological epic based on Mahabharata. The film is a heavy VFX film and will be shot on a large scale. Shahid will be playing one of the most powerful characters from the epic, but the details of his role have been kept under wraps. The film will be directed by a renowned filmmaker from the South, whose name has not been revealed yet.
“It’s the most ambitious project for Vashu and Jackky Bhagnani. They have been developing this project since early this year and are determined to create a visual spectacle that Indian audiences have never seen before. Shahid has been their first and only choice since the inception of this project, and he’s already signed on for it. The movie is a technologically advanced project that promises to transport audiences to a never-before-explored world,” revealed a source close to the development
Shahid Kapoor is excited to embark on this uncharted territory with this mythological drama and will commence shooting in the first half of 2024. He is expected to dive into this project after finishing Rosshan Andrrews’ cop thriller, which begins production this month in Mumbai. Shahid is also in talks with Sanjay Leela Bhansali for a commercial potboiler, but that is still in the initial stage of discussion.
This will be Shahid Kapoor’s first ever mythological film of his career and he is looking forward to challenging himself with this ambitious project. The actor has been experimenting with different roles and genres in his recent films and has received rave reviews for his performances. He is also one of the few actors who have successfully transitioned from the big screen to the OTT platforms without compromising on the quality of his work.
Shahid’s upcoming projects
Shahid Kapoor has a busy schedule ahead of him with multiple films lined up for release in 2024. He will be seen in Dinesh Vijan’s untitled rom-com opposite Kriti Sanon, which is slated to release on Valentine’s Day next year. He will also be seen in Rosshan Andrrews’ thriller, tentatively titled Koi Shaq, opposite Pooja Hegde. The film is an original script and not a remake of the Malayalam hit Mumbai Police, as speculated earlier.
