Shakti Shalini: Aneet Padda’s Folklore-Rooted Maddock Film Wraps Shoot With Dark Double-Role Twist

Aneet Padda is stepping into darker, stranger territory with Shakti Shalini, and the latest reveal makes the Maddock Films horror comedy universe sound far more intense than a routine supernatural ride. The film has completed its final schedule, while its central twist, Padda in a double role, has sharpened curiosity around the folklore-driven story.

The film places Padda at the centre of a clash between Shakti and Shalini, two characters linked by rage, protection and revenge. One is an ordinary woman who becomes a protector. The other is a vengeful spirit who returns after being betrayed and killed. That conflict gives Shakti Shalini its core dramatic hook.

Shakti Shalini Wraps Final Schedule In Powai

The final leg of Shakti Shalini was completed at Chitrarth Studio in Powai on May 27, where the team filmed a large-scale climax sequence. The set recreated a Rajasthani village and house interiors, with the sequence built around the symbolic defeat of evil.

A production source said, “The sequence shows the village people, especially women, celebrating the defeat of evil.”

The film moved at a brisk pace after going on floors in March. The cast and crew shot across Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, including Chambal, Datia, Antri, Panihar, Gwalior and Morena. Portions were also filmed in Dholpur and Barkhandi in Rajasthan.

Viineet Kumar Siingh plays the antagonist and shot key scenes with Padda during the outdoor schedules. Nana Patekar and Seema Biswas joined the shoot in May, while Vishal Jethwa is also part of the cast.

What Shakti Shalini Brings To Maddock’S Horror Comedy Universe

Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, Shakti Shalini expands Maddock Films’ successful horror comedy universe after films such as Stree, Bhediya and Munjya. The film blends horror, revenge drama and supernatural folklore, with a Bengali mythology-rooted thread shaping the story.

The new film pushes the universe into a more mythic register, while retaining the studio’s proven appetite for local legends and female-led supernatural conflict. With filming now complete, Shakti Shalini is positioned as one of Maddock’s key genre offerings for 2026.

Aneet Padda’S Recent And Upcoming Work

Aneet Padda began her screen journey with Salaam Venky in 2022, where she appeared in a brief role alongside Kajol. She then moved to streaming with the Prime Video coming-of-age series Big Girls Don’t Cry in 2024, marking her first lead role and widening her visibility among younger audiences.

Her major film breakthrough came with Mohit Suri’s romantic drama Saiyaara in 2025, co-starring Ahaan Panday. The film gave Padda wider mainstream recognition and placed her firmly on the industry’s watchlist.

After Saiyaara, Shakti Shalini marks a sharp tonal shift for Padda, taking her from romance into a physically and emotionally demanding supernatural space. The film is scheduled for release on December 24, 2026. She is also attached to Nyaya, a courtroom drama with Fatima Sana Shaikh, which adds another dramatic turn to her expanding slate.
