Sharvari is all set to lead Imtiaz Ali’s upcoming period romance, marking a major milestone in her career. The filmmaker (known for his intense storytelling) has finalised Sharvari as the female lead, which pairs her opposite Vedang Raina. This untitled film is scheduled to go on floors in April.
Earlier this month, reports confirmed that Imtiaz is working on a period love story featuring Diljit Dosanjh, Vedang Raina, and Naseeruddin Shah in key roles. While the search was on for a strong female lead, sources reveal that Sharvari was Imtiaz’s choice.
Sharvari Is The First Female Lead In Imtiaz Ali’s Upcoming Period Film
A Pinkvilla report says that the filmmaker was looking for someone with raw talent who could bring depth to the character. Sharvari stood out as the perfect fit. Industry insiders believe she has the potential to become one of the biggest stars of her generation, and this film could be a turning point in her career.
The report further reveals that Sharvari and Vedang will be the central couple in this intense love story. The film is expected to present a fresh perspective on romance, distinct from Imtiaz’s past works. It will weave historical depth with deep emotions, making it a unique cinematic experience. Pre-production is already in progress, with the team preparing for an April shoot.
Interestingly, Ananya Panday was initially considered for the role but turned it down in favour of a project starring Kartik Aaryan, produced by Karan Johar. This paved the way for Sharvari, who has been steadily carving a niche in Bollywood.
Imtiaz Ali Also Has Two Other Projects
Meanwhile, Imtiaz Ali has a packed schedule. Alongside this period romance, he is also directing Idiots of Istanbul, featuring Triptii Dimri and Fahadh Faasil. The project is set to begin filming later this year. Additionally, he is backing another love story starring Avinash Tiwary and Aditi Rao Hydari.
