Imtiaz Ali is preparing to direct a new romantic film, starring Avinash Tiwary and Aditi Rao Hydari. Known for films like Rockstar and Tamasha, Imtiaz is set to return to the intense romantic genre he’s famous for.
A Pinkvilla report reveals that the shoot for the untitled film is set to start on February 26, 2025, in India. Sources say the filming will follow a continuous schedule, which means it will wrap up in a short time.

Avinash Tiwary will reunite with Imtiaz Ali after their collaboration in Laila Majnu. This time, he will share the screen with Aditi Rao Hydari to bring a deeply emotional love story to life.
This film is just one of three projects Imtiaz has lined up. After finishing this romantic movie by Summer 2025, he will start work on a period love story with Diljit Dosanjh, Vedang Raina, and Naseeruddin Shah. Once both films are completed, he will move on to Idiots of Istanbul, a romantic comedy starring Fahadh Faasil and Triptii Dimri.
This will be the first time Imtiaz Ali directs three films back-to-back. A source mentioned in the report shared, “Imtiaz spent last one year to develop 3 scripts and is now ready to roll with them in a short span of time. He feels, the three subjects are different from each other and have the scope to win over the audience.”
Amid the re-release trend, Imtiaz’s old films like Jab We Met and Laila Majnu and others also gained renewed attention.
What More Recently Heard About The Director
Apart from this latest reveal, it was recently reported that Ananya Panday was chosen to play the female lead opposite Vedang Raina in Imtiaz’s period film.
However, she dropped out of the film due to scheduling conflicts, as her other project with Kartik Aaryan is set to begin at the same time. The filmmaker has been searching for three female leads from different generations for this period drama.
