According to Variety’s sources, Meyers and her team are now exploring other options to get the film to the screen, with plans to shop it to prospective buyers as a package. However, it remains unclear how much of the budget would have been devoted to designing an immaculate kitchen, which is a staple in the Nancy Meyers Cinematic Universe.
Meyers, known for her contemporary rom-com classics like “It’s Complicated” and “What Women Want,” was set to write, direct, and produce the semi-autobiographical story about Hollywood exes who end up working together. Meyers, who was married to director Charles Shyer for nearly 20 years and worked with him on several award-winning comedies, last directed the 2015 film “The Intern” with Anne Hathaway and Robert De Niro.
While Netflix declined to comment on the project, Variety’s sources close to the film say that pending talent availability, the project will be shopped to other prospective buyers as a package. Meyers has not yet responded to requests for comment.
