Ayushmann Khurrana is currently busy promoting his upcoming movie, Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan. The Vicky Donor actor will be seen playing a gay charact in this movie.
Ayushmann recently gave a statement wherein he said that same sex marriage in India is legal. His statement left the fans shocked.
The versatile actor while speaking to the media on Tuesday had stated, “We are really proud that we are supporting the community. Our country is very progressive that it legalized same-sex marriages.”
Although, in 2018, the Supreme Court of India had decriminalized homosexuality but that did not imply the legalization of same-sex marriage. And hence, the fans quickly responded to his statement.
As soon as Ayushmann realized his mistake, he took to his Twitter account and apologized for the same. His post read, “A genuine slip here though I really wish same-sex marriages get legal in India.”
Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan also stars Neena Gupta, Gajraj Rao, Maanvi Gagroo, Pankhuri Awasthy among others. The film is directed by Hitesh Kewalya and jointly produced by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series and Aanand L Rai’s Colour Yellow Productions.
The film will hit the theaters on February 21.
