Bollywood actor Sidharth Malhotra is all set to make history as he will have two releases on the same day – his web series Indian Police Force and his film Yodha. As per a report in Bollywood Hungama, both his projects are slated to release on December 8, 2023, making it a double treat for his fans.
A source said, “The keenly anticipated show will drop on Amazon Prime Video on December 8. The streaming giant feels that it’ll be an apt time and help them get the required views. They plan to promote it in a grand manner to ensure that the common man on the ground is fully aware of the show’s release date.”
Indian Police Force is Rohit Shetty’s debut in the OTT space and will stream on Amazon Prime Video. The show also stars Shilpa Shetty and Vivek Oberoi in pivotal roles. It is said to be a thrilling action drama based on the lives of police officers.
This is probably the first time that an actor will have a web series and a film release on the same day. The source continued, “This is probably a first-time occurrence that an actor will have a theatrical release and premiere of his web series on the same day. Sidharth Malhotra, thus, is all set to create history in the last month of 2023.”
Yodha, on the other hand, is a theatrical release produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. The film features Sidharth Malhotra in an action-packed role along with Disha Patani and Raashii Khanna. The film is directed by Pushkar Ojha and Sagar Ambre and is based on a hijacking incident.
Rohit Shetty and Prime Video delay Indian Police Force web series because of World Cup
According to a report, Rohit Shetty and Amazon Prime Video have taken a strategic decision to delay the series from the Diwali weekend. The reason behind this move is that the makers did not want to compete with the cricket fever that has gripped the nation.
“While the series is ready for its launch, Rohit Shetty and team Amazon Prime have taken a strategic move to delay the series from the Diwali weekend. It’s a decision taken in the best interest of the series, as the makers didn’t want to clash with the on-going cricket World Cup. The digital conversations around the Diwali period will revolve around two things – Cricket World Cup and Tiger 3 – and Amazon is clear on not being the third choice of audience,” a source told.
The source also revealed that the new release date of Indian Police Force will be announced soon, most likely by the end of this week. The series is expected to be a big hit among the fans of Rohit Shetty’s cop universe, which includes films like Singham, Simmba, and Sooryavanshi. The series will also mark the OTT debut of Rohit Shetty as a director.
