Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari’s Legal Drama: Sonakshi Sinha and Jyotika Set for a Powerful Courtroom Showdown
Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari’s next feature is rolling and promises to deliver one of Bollywood’s most thrilling courtroom face-offs in recent memory. Initially, the film was set to star Kareena Kapoor Khan and Kiara Advani, but now taking up the baton are Sonakshi Sinha and Jyotika, now both portrayed as the rival legal protagonists.
The untitled legal drama, produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment and Harman Baweja’s Baweja Studios, is now shooting in Malvani, Madh Island and Vile Parle — after re-enacting not-to-be-missed courtroom sets.

A source with knowledge of the project said the earlier version with Kareena and Kiara was shelved due to “timeline and creative differences”. They locked a new draft earlier this year, and Sonakshi Sinha joined while going through multiple look tests and script readings.
“Sonakshi brought a palpable grounded intensity that pleased everyone in the space,” the insider said. “This is not a typical courtroom drama. The legal face-off is traumatised through layers of trauma, emotional trauma, with a hint of commentary on social events.”
Courtroom Thriller with Substance & Emotion
The film stars Sonakshi Sinha, who portrays a fiery emotionally charged lawyer, and Jyotika is reported to play her serious rival lawyer. She will arrive to shoot about mid-June, with their legal battle serving as the film’s emotional and narrative fulcrum.
This was not Jyotika’s first venture into the legal drama genre; she previously portrayed a junior lawyer in Ponmagal Vandhal (2020), in Tamil, that was well-received upon release.
