The Student of the Year franchise is set to return with its third instalment, bringing in fresh faces to lead the show. After confirming Shanaya Kapoor as the female lead, sources suggest that actor Tusharr Khanna is also being considered for one of the male leads in Karan Johar’s much-anticipated college drama.
TV Actor Tusharr Khanna In Talks To Lead SOTY 3
According to insiders, Tusharr Khanna recently auditioned for the film and impressed the casting team. A close source told News18, “Auditions for the male lead have been happening for a long time now. Tusharr (Khanna) also auditioned, and it went well. The casting team is impressed and is considering signing him as one of the male leads. But nothing has been finalised as of now.” When approached, Tusharr refused to comment on the reports.
If finalised, Tusharr will join Shanaya Kapoor and another yet-to-be-announced male lead. The film is expected to introduce a fresh trio, continuing the franchise’s tradition of launching newcomers in Bollywood.

Tusharr Khanna has featured in popular television shows like Naagin and Piya Albela. Last year, he made his Bollywood debut with Starfish, but the film did not perform well at the box office.
Despite that, his potential has caught the attention of filmmakers, and Student of the Year 3 could be the breakthrough he needs.
Shanaya Kapoor was expected to debut with Student of the Year 3. However, she will be seen in other projects before its release. Reports suggest that the film will be released on a streaming platform rather than in cinemas. Additionally, actress Alaya F is also said to be part of the project, though details about her role remain under wraps.
Karan Johar Won’t Direct SOTY 3
Unlike the previous two films, which were directed by Karan Johar and Punit Malhotra, the third instalment will have a new director. Reema Maya is reportedly taking the reins, bringing a fresh perspective to the beloved franchise.
The first Student of the Year film was released in 2012 & introduced Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra to Bollywood. The sequel (Student of the Year 2) hit theatres in 2019 with Tiger Shroff, Ananya Panday, Tara Sutaria, and Aditya Seal.
While official confirmation is still awaited, excitement around Student of the Year 3 is steadily growing. If everything falls into place, the film will soon introduce a new generation of stars to Bollywood.
