Renowned Indian filmmaker SS Rajamouli, celebrated for his global sensation RRR and groundbreaking movies like Baahubali and Magadheera, is embarking on a new cinematic venture. This time, he is set to present a biopic that chronicles the birth and ascent of Indian cinema.
The film, titled Made In India, promises to be a magnum opus on a huge scale. The film will be directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Nitin Kakkar and will be released in six languages – Marathi, Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada.
SS Rajamouli to present the biopic of birth of Indian cinema
After enthralling audiences with larger-than-life movies like Baahubali 1 & 2 and RRR, Rajamouli is working towards presenting a movie that narrates the story of Indian cinema. The filmmaker is looking forward to telling the story of ‘the birth and rise of Indian cinema’. According to Rajamouli’s representative, the film promises to be an emotional and moving story.

Sharing the announcement video, SS Rajamouli wrote on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, “When I first heard the narration, it moved me emotionally like nothing else. Making a biopic is tough in itself, but conceiving one about the FATHER OF INDIAN CINEMA is even more challenging. Our boys are ready and up for it..:) With immense pride, Presenting MADE IN INDIA…”

The history of Indian cinema dates back to the 20th century when Dadasaheb Phalke, known as the ‘Father of Indian Cinema’, made the first-ever full-length feature film titled Raja Harishchandra in 1913. Indian cinema comprises multilingual movies that come from various film industries in the country, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Bengali, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Gujarati and Bhojpuri. This biopic aims to pay tribute to this rich and diverse history.
he epic biopic will be helmed by National award winning director, Nitin Kakkar and produced by Rajamouli’s son SS Karthikeya and Varun Gupta. The cast and crew of the film are yet to be decided. As we eagerly await more details about this exciting project, one thing is certain: with SS Rajamouli’s involvement, Made In India is set to be another milestone in the history of Indian cinema.
