SS Rajamouli is reportedly preparing for his dream project after the much-awaited SSMB 29 with Mahesh Babu. According to recent reports, the director might finally get the chance to bring his version of the epic Mahabharata to life on the big screen.
Rajamouli, who became a global sensation with Baahubali and RRR, has always been passionate about adapting Mahabharata, one of India’s greatest epics.
SS Rajamouli To Work On Mahabharata Adaptation After SSMB 29?
A source close to the filmmaker revealed to a media portal that Rajamouli had planned to work on this story after Baahubali but was advised against it at that time. “Raja has always wanted to do his version of the Mahabharata. In fact, he wanted to do the Mahabharata right after Baahubali. But he was advised against it, as it was seen to be too dangerous to go down that road at that time. So, he did RRR instead. But now, it is do-or-die for him. He feels if he doesn’t get into it, he never will,” the source explained.
Filmmaker Said THIS About The Dream Project In Old Interview
This epic has been a dream for Rajamouli for years. In a previous interview, he mentioned envisioning a version of Mahabharata with Aamir Khan in a key role. Speaking about adapting Mahabharata,
Rajamouli said, “If I get to the point of making Mahabharata, it would take me a year just to read the versions of Mahabharata that are available in the country. At present, I can only assume that it would be a 10-part film.”
In another interview, Rajamouli revealed that making Mahabharata is his life’s goal. “Every film I make, I feel that I’m learning something to ultimately make Mahabharata. So that’s my dream, and every step is towards that,” he shared.
Despite the excitement, Rajamouli has not yet confirmed any official plans for Mahabharata. His current focus remains on SSMB 29, a globe-trotting adventure starring Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra Jonas. The film has already generated a lot of buzz, and Priyanka Chopra is reportedly confirmed as the female lead.
While the idea of Mahabharata remains exciting, it’s important to note that it’s still speculative. Fans will have to wait for official confirmation. However, Rajamouli’s vision for Mahabharata could change the face of Indian cinema.
