SS Rajamouli is currently busy with his next massive film. After hits like Baahubali and RRR, he is now working on a jungle adventure (tentatively titled SSMB 29) starring Mahesh Babu. The film also features Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran in key roles & blends action, mythology, and history.
Mahesh Babu’s SSMB 29 Is Set In Kashi
As per the latest reports, the story is rooted in Indian history with Kashi playing an important part. Since filming on location is difficult, Rajamouli plans to recreate the city in Hyderabad.
A source shared with Pinkvilla, “The core conflict of the jungle adventure unfolds in Kashi, and the makers are looking to recreate the land of Shiva in Hyderabad, as it’s logistically difficult to can a film of this scale at real locations. The plot of SSR x SSMB is deeply rooted in the history of Kaashi, as the divine past leads to an unforgettable adventure in the present. Kashi serves itself as a very important character in the film.”
The film will use a hybrid model for shooting with real locations and detailed sets. Rajamouli is exploring untouched landscapes in India and Africa to create a grand cinematic experience.
The source added, “Right from forests to rivers to caves, Rajamouli wants to take the audience on an immersive adventure.”
Priyanka Chopra Joins The Sets Today To Film Key Sequences
Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj have already started filming. Priyanka Chopra will soon join them in Odisha for key jungle scenes. This marks her big return to Indian cinema. The source further revealed, “SSMB 29 will be Priyanka Chopra’s comeback project in India. She is crafting a massive return to the home turf, and what better than a global project like this to announce the return.”
A major global studio is backing the project to meet international standards. The film is set for a summer 2027 release, with an official announcement expected in the near future. The makers have also locked in an ensemble cast, but their names remain a secret for now.
