Vijay Sethupathi, set to take on Shah Rukh Khan in the upcoming action-thriller ‘Jawan’, is currently gearing up for his OTT debut with Prime Video’s ‘Farzi’, starring alongside Shahid Kapoor.
The actor fondly recalls his time working with the superstar in Jawan, saying that Shah Rukh Khan was “gentle and sweet”, helping him to feel relaxed and comfortable during the shoot. Directed by Atlee of Tamil blockbuster fame, ‘Jawan’ will see Sethupathi pitted against Shah Rukh Khan, reportedly playing a dual role. Ahead of his launch on OTT with ‘Farzi’, Vijay Sethupathi said in an interview to a news publication, that he had a “really good time” collaborating with Shah Rukh Khan on ‘Jawan’.
“He was very sweet. It was a very good experience. I was a bit nervous on the first day, because he is a very big artiste, but he made me very comfortable. He didn’t have a scene on that day, but he was there to make me feel comfortable. He is very sweet; I can discuss with him… He is a gentleman; I really had a good time with Shah Rukh sir,” Sethupathi said.
Scheduled to release on June 2, ‘Jawan’ will mark Nayanthara’s first Hindi feature film. It will also feature Sanya Malhotra, Sunil Grover, Ridhi Dogra and possibly Deepika Padukone in a cameo role.
Vijay Sethupathi stars along side Shahid Kapoor in the upcoming series, ‘Farzi’, directed by the acclaimed Raj and DK, creators of the hit series The Family Man. Written by Sita R Menon, Suman Kumar and Hussain Dalal, the show tells the story of Sunny (Kapoor), a criminal printing counterfeit bills, and Michael (Sethupathi), the task force officer out to get him.
In a statement, Vijay Sethupathi said it was a pleasure to work with Raj and DK, alongside the talented and wonderful Shahid Kapoor. “It was incredible to work with this brilliant team and create something as mind-blowing as Farzi. I can’t think of a better digital debut,” he said.
The series also features Raashi Khanna, Kay Kay Menon, Regina Cassandra, Zakir Hussain, Bhuvan Arora, Amol Palekar and Kubbra Sait. Farzi will stream on Prime Video on February 10.
