Stree 2 is creating a buzz at the box office with its mix of horror, comedy, and special effects. Directed by Amar Kaushik, the film features Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor. It’s been praised for its humour and supernatural elements.
However, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) asked for a change in a dialogue that originally mentioned Neha Kakkar. They replaced her name with Sneha Kakkar to avoid any potential offence.
Amar Kaushik REACTS To CBFC Changing Neha Kakkar’s Reference In Stree 2
In a recent chat with Bollywood Hungama, Amar Kaushik addressed the censorship. He explained that the change was made to avoid hurting anyone’s feelings.
Kaushik said, “Not really. The CBFC members pointed that aise jokes se bura lag sakta hai. (The CBFC said such jokes hurt sentiments.) We thought they had a valid point and hence, didn’t request them to let us retain the dialogue. Anyway, logon toh samaj mein aa gaya (Anyway, people understood the reference.)”
He added, “When you write comedy, you end up having such jokes. Like when you are sitting with friends, you would pass such comments. The intention of writer Niren Bhatt and mine was that the way people get humour in their lives, we want to follow suit.”
Kaushik further praised the CBFC for their approach. “The CBFC members we met were intelligent and sensible. They listened to our viewpoint,” he said. The board acknowledged that removing the dialogue might impact the film’s narrative but decided against additional cuts. “I was surprised,” Kaushik admitted. He had prepared for more extensive censorship but found the board’s decisions fair and considerate.
