Sunny Deol Confirms Role As Lord Hanuman In Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana

Sunny Deol has now officially confirmed that he will be playing Lord Hanuman in Ramayana, Nitesh Tiwari‘s two-part epic film adaptation of the mythological story. Additionally, he had some wonderful words to say about his co-star, Ranbir Kapoor, who is poised to portray the role of Lord Ram.

Sunny Deol On Ranbir Kapoor’s Performance

When reflecting on his experience of teaming up with Ranbir Kapoor, Sunny had this to say in a recent interview:

“I think it’s going to be great because he is such a great actor. He is someone who fully invests himself in every project he takes.”

This is the first time in their careers that the two presenters will share the screen, and the audience can expect a compelling and profound relationship between Lord Ram and Lord Hanuman, as envisioned by Dangal director Nitesh Tiwari.

Playing Hanuman: A Position of Responsibility

Sunny admitted he felt apprehension about playing such a revered god:

“There is always nervousness and fear, but that’s what makes it beautiful. Because then you have to go through the process of reaching deep down and figuring out how you will reach this.”

He also revealed his respect for the rest of the cast and the size of the film:

“I think it’s going to be wonderful and beautiful. In fact, when I’m done, I’m going to leave and see some of what they’ve done.”

The Vision and Scale of Ramayana

Produced by Namit Malhotra, the film is being mounted on a big scale, and their visual effects are attempting to meet international standards. Sunny gave praise to the team’s aim:

“They want to achieve that supernatural quality, those visual effects, ideally on par with Hollywood. Ramayana is a tale that practically every village or corner of India has been told before but doing it on a big screen like this with some scale and commitment…I trust the film will do justice to the epic and audience will be pleased with our efforts.”

Eyes On Ramayana’s Double Release

Ramayana is being made in two parts with theatrical releases for 2026 and 2027. The film also features Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana, making this one of the biggest mythological movies ever in Indian cinema history.
