Sunny Deol‘s latest movie Gadar 2 has been a huge hit among the audience and critics alike. The movie, which is a sequel to the 2001 blockbuster Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, has crossed Rs 465 crore mark at the domestic box office and is still going strong. The movie, directed by Anil Sharma, features Sunny Deol as Tara Singh, a Sikh truck driver who falls in love with a Muslim girl, Sakina, played by Ameesha Patel. The movie is set in the backdrop of the Partition of India and Pakistan and showcases the struggles and sacrifices of Tara and Sakina.
Shah Rukh Khan And His Family Congratulated Sunny Deol
Among the many celebs who have watched and appreciated Gadar 2, one of them is none other than Shah Rukh Khan. The superstar, who is also basking in the glory of his own movie Pathaan, which released earlier this year, has not only watched Gadar 2 but also made a phone call to Sunny Deol to express his happiness for the film’s phenomenal run in theatres.
In an interview with Times Now, Sunny Deol revealed that he got a call from Shah Rukh Khan before he watched Gadar 2. He also talked to his wife Gauri Khan and son Aryan Khan as well. “He had seen this film and before that, he called me up and wished me and he was so happy, he told me ‘I am so happy, you genuinely deserve it’ and I said ‘thank you’. I spoke to his wife and son and he said that ‘tonight we’re going to watch the film’. And I said ‘great’. And I think after that he has seen it and tweeted about it.”
Shah Rukh Khan had also replied to a fan during an AskSRK session on Twitter that he has watched Gadar 2 and loved it. He wrote, “Gadar 2 is fantastic…Sunny Deol is amazing…Anil Sharma has done a great job…loved it.”

Sunny Deol addresses past issues with Shah Rukh Khan
Sunny Deol and Shah Rukh Khan have not always been on good terms. Their bad blood began on the sets of their 1993 blockbuster Darr, where Sunny was apparently unhappy with Yash Chopra for giving more prominence to Shah Rukh’s character. He had vowed never to work with the filmmaker again and he also didn’t speak to Shah Rukh for 16 years.
However, things have changed for the better between the two actors over the years. Sunny Deol said that he has called him on many occasions and shared thoughts on certain things. “Of the past issues or whatever they were, I say, ‘Time heals everything and we move ahead. That’s how it should be,'” he said.
Fans of both the stars are happy to see this gesture of mutual respect and admiration between them. Some of them even expressed their wish to see them together in a movie someday. It seems like Gadar 2 has not only brought back the audience to the theatres but also bridged the gap between two of Bollywood’s biggest stars.
