Sunny Deol chose his birthday to unveil the teaser of Suryaa: Ant Se Aarambh Tak, a grim, emotionally charged thriller that puts medical malpractice at its centre. Set for a theatrical release on November 20, 2026, the film introduces Deol in a role driven less by swagger and more by anguish, with the teaser hinting at a story where personal tragedy sparks a wider fight against institutional rot.
Rather than playing out like a conventional action launch, the first footage leans into anger, suspicion and grief, with Deol’s character forced to question the system people are taught to trust most in moments of crisis.
Teaser Puts Medical Malpractice At The Core
The teaser’s sharpest edge comes from its direct attack on medical wrongdoing. In the footage, Sunny Deol says, “A person believes doctors are god and entrusts his life to them. But if that doctor breaks their trust, then what will the person do?” He then takes aim at spiralling hospital charges and unnecessary testing, adding, “Doctors don’t write prescriptions there, they write their commissions. And people are tolerating it but till when?”
That dialogue gives Suryaa a strong thematic identity. The film is being sold not just as an emotional thriller, but as a story that channels personal loss into a confrontation with corruption inside the healthcare system.
Sharing the teaser on Instagram on his birthday, Sunny wrote, “They thought it was his end. For Suryaa, it was only the beginning. Aap sab ke naam aaj SURYAA Teaser. Dekhiye. Sochiye. Satark Rahiye aur Agar kuch galat ho toh ladiye! (The SURYAA teaser is dedicated to all of you today. Watch. Think. Stay alert, and fight back if something is wrong!) Kamal Mukut’s #SURYAA अंत से आरंभ तक IN CINEMAS 20th November 2026.”
Cast, Director And Film Details
Backed by producer Kamal Mukut, Suryaa is directed by M Padmakumar and marks his Hindi directorial debut. The cast includes Ravi Kishan, Pragya Jaiswal, Soumya Tandon, Tinu Anand, Manish Wadhwa, Jisshu Sengupta, Tanushree Chakraborty, Virti Vaghani, Siddarth Sharma, Rohit Tiwari, Anoop Trivedi, Khalid Siddiqui, the late Pankaj Dheer and Beena Kak.
The film is adapted from Padmakumar’s own 2018 Malayalam film Joseph. The original followed a retired police officer pulled into a murder investigation tied to his past, while Suryaa appears to reshape that emotional core around hospital corruption and accountability.
Producer Kamal Mukut said, “I signed Sunny Deol for two films, Gadar 2 and SURYAA. We began with Gadar 2, and it became history. Motivated by its success, and drawing upon my experience of more than five decades in the industry, I created SURYAA, a story of a common man that will surely touch every life. The film takes the audience through a never-before-seen avatar of Sunny Deol, interestingly woven across three phases of his life journey. This gripping thriller is designed to transport audiences into two different eras.”
Sunny Deol’s Recent And Upcoming Work
Sunny Deol enters Suryaa at a time when his screen run has regained major commercial weight after Gadar 2 in 2023. In the years since, he has balanced star-led mass entertainers with projects that tap into nostalgia, patriotism and high-voltage drama, including Jaat in 2025, followed by Border 2, Ikka and Batwara 1947 in 2026. He also has Ramayana lined up, where he is set to play Hanuman. In that larger lineup, Suryaa stands out for its heavier emotional register and its pointed focus on medical malpractice, giving Deol a part that appears to rely as much on wounded conviction as on big-screen intensity.
