Sushmita Sen is a performer who knows how to act with her eyes alone. The former Miss Universe has been enjoying her second inning in acting with the successful Hotstar show Aarya where she plays the titular character. Sushmita will be now seen in an upcoming series titled Taali in which she is playing the role of transgender activist Shreegauri Sawant.
Today, the makers released an interesting 46-second teaser of the series. It gives us a glimpse of Sushmita’s unbelievable transformation into a transgender character, not just with her mannerism but her baritoned voice. The teaser has hyped up the interest around this series and people are really liking Sushmita’s look. The show is created by Arjun Singgh Baran and Kartk D Nishandar and directed by National Award-winner Ravi Jadhav.

Written by Kshitij Patwardhan, and produced by Arjun Singgh Baran, Kartk D Nishandar and Afeefa Nadiadwala, Taali will release on JioCinema on 15 August for free. It is based on the life of transgender activist Shreegauri Sawant. The tagline of the series is “Taali – bajaungi nahi bajwaungi.”
It’s Motion Poster Was Well Received
Earlier this month, the makers dropped a motion poster of the series which featured Sushmita as Shreegauri Sawant. She is featured wearing a big red bindi and red lipstick. The motion poster is really innovative as it ticks the third gender box through her red bindi, signifying the role of Gauri in getting the third gender recognition in India after a long court battle. Fans of Sushmita have been gearing up for the release of this interesting series ever since it was announced.
About Gauri Sawant
Gauri Sawant or Shreegauri Sawant is a transgender activist based out of Mumbai. She was born as Ganesh in Pune and later left her house as she did not want to disappoint her family. In 2000, Gauri started an NGO named Sakhi Char Chowghi Trust which provides counseling to transgender people and raises awareness about the issues they face on a daily basis. In 203, she filed a petition in the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) case which later recognised transgender as the third gender.
