Kartik Aaryan, who impressed the audience with his performance as ‘Rooh Baba’ in the horror-comedy ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2‘, is all set to reprise his role in the third installment of the franchise. The actor announced the project on his social media with a short video, where he is seen sitting on a chair in a dark room, dressed as the character of ‘Rooh Baba’.
The film, titled ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3‘, will be directed by Anees Bazmee, who also helmed the second part. The film is scheduled to release on Diwali 2024 and the shooting will begin early next year. The film will revolve around the haunted house and the youngster who held the ghost last time. New set of events will unfold as the story takes a new turn.
The source said, “Kartik Aaryan will be reprising in the lead role as Rooh Baba, whose confirmation has been done but no other actor’s has been confirmed yet. However, there are reports that Tabu has rejected ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’.”
Tabu rejects Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 despite a hefty offer
Tabu has reportedly rejected the film, who played the role of a woman possessed by a ghost in ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2‘. Tabu was reportedly offered a hefty amount to reprise her role in the third part, but she turned it down as she was not satisfied with the script and her character’s arc. Sources close to Tabu said that she does not want to appear in a repeat role. The makers, on the other hand, are keen to get the film going soon. Tabu is known for her selective and versatile choices of films, such as ‘Andhadhun‘, ‘Drishyam‘, ‘Haider‘, ‘Life of Pi’, and ‘The Namesake’.
The film will also not feature Akshay Kumar, who played the original ‘Rooh Baba’ in the first film, ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’, which was released in 2007.
The makers of ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3′ have not revealed the female lead of the film yet, but it is speculated that it might be a fresh face or a rising star. The film will also feature Rajpal Yadav, Ashwini Kalsekar, and Sanjay Mishra in supporting roles.
‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3‘ is expected to be a blockbuster, as the second part, which was released in 2022, broke the box office drought of the industry. The film grossed over Rs 266.68 crore worldwide, becoming one of the highest grossers of 2022. The film received positive reviews from critics and audiences alike, who praised Aaryan’s performance as a menacing and troubled character.

Kartik was last seen alongside Kiara in Satyaprem Ki Katha. He will be next seen in Kabir Khan’s biographical film Chandu Champion in which he is portraying Paralympic swimmer Murlikant Petkar. Apart from that, he is also doing a film with Karan Johar which will be directed by Sandeep Modi.
Tabu, on the other hand, was last seen in Vishal Bhardwaj’s espionage thriller Khufiya. She will be next seen in Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha with Ajay Devgn and The Crew with Kareena Kapoor Khan, Kriti Sanon and Diljit Dosanjh.
