What Director Pa Rajith Said About The Film’s Plot
Director Pa Ranjith shared insights into the plot in an interview with Hindustan Times. He described the film as an engaging story set during the colonial period in the KGF gold mines. The film focuses on the struggle for freedom by the oppressed people working in the mines and their leader’s efforts to fulfil their wishes.
This storyline, based on the true history of the Kolar Gold Fields (KGF), explores the exploitation of these mines by the British over two centuries ago and the struggles of the local people.
Challenges Faced During Filming Action Sequences In Thangalaan
Adding to the authenticity of the film, action choreographer Stunner Sam revealed in an interview with Galatta Plus the unique challenges faced during the filming of action sequences. He explained that each action sequence has a different variation, with scenes involving fire, water, and various landscapes. One sequence, in particular, involves Vikram performing while surrounded by fire, with no CGI used, making it a live-action spectacle.

Thangalaan, produced by K. E. Gnanavel Raja’s Studio Green, is set for a worldwide release on 15 August 2024. The production house is renowned for hits like Si3 and Thaanaa Serndha Koottam. This year, Studio Green also has another major release with the Suriya starrer Kanguva.
Apart from Vikram, the film features an impressive cast, including Malavika Mohanan, Pasupathy, Daniel Caltagirone, Hari Krishnan Anbudurai, Vettai Muthukumar, Arjun Anbudan, and Sampath Ram.
