John Abraham is stepping into a new kind of battlefield. This time, the action star will fight without weapons in a ‘war of words’. His upcoming film The Diplomat is a political thriller based on a true story. The makers have dropped the trailer as the film inches closer to its release date.
The Diplomat Trailer OUT
Directed by Shivam Nair, The Diplomat follows the real-life mission of Indian diplomat JP Singh. He played a key role in rescuing Uzma Ahmed from Pakistan in 2017.
The film also pays tribute to the late Sushma Swaraj, India’s former Minister of External Affairs. She supported Singh in bringing Uzma back home. The trailer was released on her birth anniversary, making it even more special.
John Abraham is known for his action-packed roles. But in The Diplomat, he takes a different approach. Instead of fights and chases, the film focuses on intelligence, strategy, and negotiation. The trailer hints at a tense and gripping story where diplomacy takes centre stage.
The video starts with a distressed Muslim woman arriving at the Indian embassy in Pakistan. She claims she was forced into marriage. At first, John’s character is doubtful. But soon, he realises the seriousness of the situation. He then takes on the challenge of bringing her back to India. The story unfolds as a high-stakes political game filled with tension and drama.

John Abraham On Playing JP Singh In This Political Thriller
Speaking about his role, John said, “Diplomacy is a battlefield where words carry more weight than weapons. Playing JP Singh allowed me to explore a world where power is defined by intellect, resilience, and quiet heroism. Uzma’s story is a testament to India’s strength and courage, and I’m proud to bring this inspiring journey to life on screen.”
This film marks a major shift in John’s career. He moves away from physical action to a dialogue-driven performance. The trailer makes it clear that this is not just another political drama. It is a battle of wits where every decision can change lives.
