‘The Legend Of Maula Jatt’ Featuring Fawad Khan And Mahira Khan Set To Re-release In UK, UAE And US For Eid Festivities

The film narrates the untold tales of legendary heroes who etched their names in the soil with their blood.

Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan, who gained popularity through the 2014 drama series “Humsafar,” reunited on the big screen for the period film “The Legend of Maula Jatt,” which is currently Pakistan’s most expensive film. The movie earned Rs. 100 crore in the domestic box office and $13.8 million worldwide across 500 screens. Despite the strained relationship between Pakistan and India, the film is set to have an international re-release during Eid 2023 celebrations, as it did not have a release in India.

As per a report from Variety, six months after its theatrical release, “The Legend of Maula Jatt” will have a re-release across 15 locations in the U.K., seven locations in the U.S., and two locations in the U.A.E. during the Eid holiday period on April 21.

“It’s hard to believe that The Legend of Maula Jatt is getting a re-release after months of its initial release but I’m absolutely thrilled for audiences to rediscover the film. It’s a testament to the enduring power of cinema to enchant and captivate even in the face of the digital revolution,” stated Producer Ammara Hikmat as per Bollywood Hungama.

The director of the movie, Bilal Lashari, said, “I’m incredibly grateful for the love and support our film has received from fans around the globe. It’s been an incredible journey and I’m thrilled for everyone to have another chance to experience the magic, heart and camaraderie that we poured into this epic story.”

Pranab Kapadia, founder of Moviegoers Entertainment, and the overseas distributor mentioned, “We are absolutely delighted to witness history in the making. Never before has any [Pakistan] film re-released within six months of its original release. Thanks to the love of audiences across the globe and support from our exhibition partners, The Legend of Maula Jatt continues to set box office records.”

The film narrates the untold tales of legendary heroes who etched their names in the soil with their blood. Maula Jatt, a fierce fighter with a troubled past, seeks revenge against his nemesis Noori Natt, the most dreaded warrior in Punjab. In this epic saga of truth, honor, and justice, loyalties are tested, and families are torn apart. The film, Pakistan’s biggest movie to date, showcases the essence of the era.

The Punjabi-language film is a remake of the 1979 classic “Maula Jatt,” produced by Ammara Hikmat’s Encyclomedia and Lashari Films. The star-studded cast includes Mirza Gohar Rasheed, Faris Shafi, Ali Azmat, Nayyer Ejaz, Shafqat Cheema, Raheela Agha, Zia Khan, and Saima Baloch. The movie hit theatres on October 13, 2022. Fawad Khan, who made his Bollywood debut with Sonam Kapoor in “Khoobsurat” in 2014, recently announced his upcoming project “Money Back Guaranteed” with former cricketer Wasim Akram, set to release on Eid 2023. Khan was also featured in the Karachi-themed episode of the Disney+ Marvel series “Ms. Marvel,” alongside Iman Vellani.

Mahira Khan, on the other hand, was last seen in the 2022 Pakistani action-comedy film “Quaid-e-Azam Zindabad.”
