The Raja Saab Box Office Disaster: Prabhas Starrer Crashes In Second Weekend With 83 Percent Drop And Rs 179 Crore Worldwide In 10 Days

The much anticipated The Raja Saab has turned into a major box office disaster for Prabhas. The film crashed in its second weekend with a steep 83 percent drop from its opening numbers. The horror comedy collected just Rs 9.50 crore approx in its second weekend at the Indian box office.

The ten day running total for The Raja Saab has reached Rs 146.50 crore approx in India. Overseas collections stand at Rs 32.50 crore (USD 3.60 million) approx. This takes the worldwide box office total to Rs 179 crore approx.

The Fate Was Sealed On Day One

The fate of The Raja Saab was sealed on the first day itself when it opened to underwhelming numbers. The reception was even worse than expected. The film faced big drops over the opening weekend and never recovered.

During the weekdays, the Maruthi directorial managed to put up some numbers due to Sankranti holidays. Especially on Wednesday and Thursday, the holiday boost helped. But in the second weekend, as the holiday boost wore off, collections came crashing down once again.

Expected To Fizzle Out Soon

With no holidays left to cushion the run, The Raja Saab is now expected to fizzle out. Trade analysts predict the film will close at around Rs 185 to 190 crore worldwide.

In the end, The Raja Saab is going to end up in the same range as Game Changer from last year. That film was a disaster of a similar level with similar opening numbers, trending and now final figures.

Territorial Breakdown

The Raja Saab collected Rs 104.75 crore in AP/TS region. Karnataka contributed Rs 13.50 crore while Tamil Nadu and Kerala added Rs 3 crore. Rest of India contributed Rs 25.25 crore.

The People Media Factory production will end up with somewhat higher numbers in Nizam and Karnataka compared to Game Changer. However, Game Changer had higher numbers in the Hindi belt.

The costs involved for both films are at similar levels. The losses for The Raja Saab are estimated to be around Rs 200 crore. This marks another disappointment for Prabhas after the underwhelming performance of his previous releases.
