Prithviraj, the next film starring Akshay Kumar, has been renamed Samrat Prithviraj. The action follows a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Shree Rajput Karni Sena, represented by Advocate Raghavendra Mehrotra. After multiple meetings and notices, Prithviraj producers YRF consented on May 27 to change the film’s name from Prithviraj to Samrat Prithviraj, taking into account the feeling and demands of the Rajput community. The development occurred in response to Shree Rajput Karni Sena’s request.
Advocate Raghavendra Mehrotra, who represents Shree Rajput Karni Sena, served the legal notice before filing a PIL no. (St) 16448/2022 with the Hon’ble High Court. The demand was for a name change in response to his client’s complaint that the Rajput community had been offended.
Yash Raj Films, in an official letter to Shri Rajput Karni Sena President, mentioned that Prithviraj now stands changed to Samrat Prithviraj. The letter can be read, “Dear Sir, we, Yash Raj Films Private Limited, have been one of the leading production houses and distribution companies since its inception in the 1970s and continue to grow as one of India’s largest film studios. We have produced some of the most iconic films in the history of Indian cinema and have goodwill from over 50 years in the entertainment industry. We are committed to constantly creating and producing content for enjoyment of all audiences.”
Prithviraj has been directed by Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi, who is best known for directing the television epic Chanakya and the critically acclaimed film Pinjar. The ethereally gorgeous Manushi Chhillar plays the role of King Prithviraj’s beloved Sanyogita and her launch is definitely one of the most awaited debuts of 2022. The film is set to release on June 3 in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
