It has been a year since the maker of Sooryavanshi dropped its trailer. Directed by Rohit Shetty the film has created a lot of buzz around the industry and the fans were eagerly waiting to see the action. However coronavirus pandemic became the spoilsport and the plans were delayed.
It was earlier reported that the makers will release the film on April 2, 2021. The decision was taken by the makers after observing the decrease in Coronavirus cases and also after the Central Government allowed 100% occupancy in cinemas. However, the film is only 60 days away but the makers have not made any update and not even started promotions. Meanwhile, the cases of COVID-19 began to rise exponentially in Maharashtra, including the crucial territory of Mumbai. There are reports that the state government might again introduce some restrictions, like night curfew, at the most, if a number of daily cases don’t subside. Now if this happens then it can affect the collection of the film especially since late evening shows are the prime time.
Reliance Entertainment, which is co-producing Sooryavanshi, announced that their other biggie, ’83, would release on June 4, 2021.
A trade source was quoted as saying, “It’s going to be a wait and watch situation. Everybody in the Sooryavanshi team and even the whole industry is hoping that the cases would reduce. If that happens, the Maharashtra government won’t add curbs and would also pave the way for 100% occupancy in cinemas. A clear scenario would emerge by early next week. The makers want to release the movie in the maximum screens and shows with 100% permissible occupancy.”
