Actor and director Deepak Tijori has lodged a police complaint against producer Vikram Khakhar at the Amboli Police Station in Mumbai. The complaint, filed on September 17, accuses Khakhar of cheating and conning Tijori out of Rs 17.5 lakhs.
Deepak Tijori Duped Of Rs 17.5 Lakhs For Tipppsy Shoot In London
According to a Bollywood Hungama report, it all started in 2019 when Tijori first met Khakhar, who was then working as a line producer. Tijori shared his plans for the film Tipppsy, which was stuck in development limbo.
Khakhar offered to facilitate a shoot in London but required Tijori to invest Rs 15 lakhs for the arrangements. Agreeing to the proposal, Tijori transferred Rs 17.4 lakhs on March 3, 2020, covering both the required amount and GST.
However, things took a troubling turn. Tijori claimed that whenever he inquired about the project’s progress, Khakhar would blame delays on the Covid-19 pandemic. Even after the pandemic subsided, the excuses continued, leaving Tijori frustrated.
It became clear to him that Khakhar had no intention of moving forward with the film. After multiple requests for a refund, Khakhar allegedly assured Tijori he would return the money but failed to do so.
On March 14, Tijori reached out to Khakhar again, who promised to meet him to discuss the situation. Unfortunately, Khakhar did not show up for the meeting, intensifying Tijori’s concerns.
Upon reviewing the financial documents related to Tipppsy, Tijori found that no money had been spent on the film’s production, further validating his suspicions.
FIR Filed Against Khakhar Under Sections 420 & 406
The FIR against Khakhar has been filed under Section 420 (cheating) and Section 406 (criminal breach of trust) of the newly constituted Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
This legal action comes at a time when Khakhar is also involved in other projects, including the recently released Bhaiyya Ji starring Manoj Bajpayee, and the upcoming film featuring Vikrant Massey and Raashii Khanna, Talaakhon Mein Ek.
