Yash’s Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups is making its big, bold promises feel even more real. Days after the film’s teaser went viral, the makers have now peeled back another layer of Geetu Mohandas’ gritty universe by officially introducing two key characters: Akshay Oberoi as Tony and Sudev Nair as Karmadi. Latest Update: Akshay Oberoi Introduced As Tony, Sudev Nair Revealed As Karmadi
In the newly unveiled character reveals, Akshay Oberoi’s Tony arrives with an old-world, retro menace, styled with long sideburns and a sharply tailored vintage silhouette that reads as equal parts smooth and threatening. Sudev Nair’s Karmadi, meanwhile, is positioned as a grounded, watchful presence, sporting a flat cap and moustache with a gun in hand, suggesting a quiet intensity rather than flashy bravado.
Director Geetu Mohandas also shared detailed notes on casting both actors via social media. On Sudev Nair, she wrote, “This journey would have been much tougher without the right casting for Karmadi… His craft is powerful yet understated, and he committed himself not just to the entire journey of our film.” She added that he “brought a quiet strength to every frame,” and concluded, “I believe talent alone doesn’t take you far, good people do. And Sudev is not just here to stay, but to truly thrive.”
On Akshay Oberoi, Mohandas praised his process, saying, “What sets him apart immediately is his curiosity. He doesn’t approach a script passively; he interrogates it in the most thought-provoking way.” She further added, “Akshay genuinely enjoys acting… Watch out for this talent because he’s gonna kill it!”
The character reveals land right as Toxic continues to ride the massive traction of its teaser, which has been widely reported to have crossed 200 million views within 24 hours of release.
