Amidst swirling social media rumours of a secret tussle between Akshay Kumar and Vicky Kaushal regarding a military movie titled Operation Sindoor, Twinkle Khanna has finally cleared things up — and it’s cheekier than it is clarifying.
In a latest report, the actress addressed the online buzz hinting that her husband, Akshay Kumar, was allegedly “competing” with Vicky Kaushal to lead the film based on India’s recent military operation. But in Khanna’s words,
“It’s false news — and my husband’s leg was literally on fire!”

Social media was rife with theories of a cinematic face-off brewing between two of Bollywood’s top box office stars. These theories began percolating following Nicky Vicky Bhagnani Films and The Content Engineer’s announcement on Operation Sindoor, backed by a sensational poster of a female soldier, fighter jets, and blazing tanks.
Twinkle Khanna explained how the controversy came to her attention:
“I just read that you are having a fight with Vicky Kaushal over who gets to make a film on Operation Sindoor,” she said to Akshay.
His response?
He just sighed and said, “It is fake news and my leg is on fire, so I’ll call you later.”
Evidently, Akshay wasn’t avoiding the discussion — his leg was aflame during the filming of an action sequence.
Director Apologises Over Operation Sindoor Poster Backlash
Director Uttam Maheshwari, who made the first announcement about Operation Sindoor, was heavily criticised after the release of the film poster and the subsequent controversy over the timing of the film.
Along with the poster, the film’s inspiration — reportedly taken from the Indian attack across the border on May 6–7 in retaliation for the terrorist attack on Pahalgam — struck a nerve with some netizens, who found it “exploitative” and “insensitive”.
After the public backlash, Maheshwari posted a public apology on Instagram:
“I never intended to hurt anybody. This is a very personal story for me because of the heroism of our forces. I want to tell it responsibly, not for controversy.”
Despite the clarification, there are still questions surrounding the film’s production status and casting — even though Khanna has denied her husband and Bollywood actor (or similar) will be in the film.
Clearing The Air About The Akshay-Vicky Rumour
Akshay Kumar, being in a number of films with patriotic themes like Kesari, Holiday, and Baby, was a naturally named addition to the Operation Sindoor rumour mill.
For that matter, Bollywood heartthrob and Uri: The Surgical Strike actor Vicky Kaushal was said to be linked as well.
However, as Khanna stated, it’s much ado about nothing:
“These days, it’s so difficult to work out what’s true, really there are hardly any facts as far as I’m concerned. I am genuinely suspicious about new pieces of information nowadays.”
