Atlee is currently busy with post-production work on Shah Rukh Khan‘s film Jawan as he finalizes the editing. Simultaneously, he is also preparing for his next project, which is in the pre-production stage. According to reports, Atlee’s upcoming film will be an adaptation of his successful Tamil movie Theri (2016) and will feature Varun Dhawan in the lead role. Although the female lead has not been confirmed yet, it is rumored that Atlee, who is also the producer of the remake, plans to start filming next month under the direction of Kalees.

According to sources, the producer-director duo has devised a compact shooting plan for July. A significant portion of the film will be filmed in Mumbai during the later part of August and September. An extensive set will be constructed in Film City, accompanied by brief shooting sessions in various locations across the city, with a focus on Chembur. Atlee’s team, known for their work on Mersal (2017) and Bigil (2019), will arrive in Mumbai next month to commence production, as per an insider.
Varun Dhawan’s Upcoming Films
Varun Dhawan is currently occupied with his involvement in the Indian adaptation of Citadel. As per the source, he will join the film’s production team in early September. In the meantime, director Kalees will focus on filming the scenes involving the supporting cast. Initially, reports were stating that Anushka Sharma would be the female lead in the Theri remake (previously mentioned on June 2), but it is now rumored that she has chosen to withdraw from the project.
