Uproar In Trade Over Dhurandhar Box Office Day One Collections: Leading Trade Portals Claim 30 Percent Bulk Booking For Ranveer Singh Starrer As Actual Collection Fails To Cross 17 Crore

Dhurandhar starring Ranveer Singh is reportedly showing Rs 27 crore nett on day one, with numbers possibly being pushed to Rs 30 crore or even Rs 40 crore. However, leading trade sources Pinkvilla and Box Office India are raising serious questions about these figures, suggesting the real organic collections may be significantly lower.

The spy thriller directed by Aditya Dhar has become the center of a major box office controversy. According to Pinkvilla’s detailed report, these are numbers, not actual collections. The trade portal has questioned the authenticity of the reported figures and highlighted concerning practices in the booking data.

The Midnight Advance Booking Drama

According to Pinkvilla, something unusual happened with the bookings. The trade source reported that the pre-sales for Dhurandhar were pumped extensively after midnight, with one chain going from around 95,000 tickets to 175,000 tickets by morning. This dramatic overnight jump has raised eyebrows across the industry.

Pinkvilla stated in their report that before the pre-sales were turned into a joke, the film seemed like it was going to collect around Rs 15 crore on its first day. The portal added that this is likely the closest estimate of the film’s real, organic audience pull. This means the actual audience interest may be less than half of what is being reported.

Box Office India And Pinkvilla Question The Numbers

Trade site Box Office India mentioned that around 30 percent of the reported Rs 23 to 24 crore nett on day one came from block bookings. As highlighted by both Box Office India and Pinkvilla, these are just numbers, not genuine audience collections. This distinction is crucial for understanding the film’s real performance.

Pinkvilla went further in their analysis, stating that the film is looking to put up Rs 26 to 27 crore nett for the first day, but clarified that this number, yes number, not collection, may grow to over Rs 30 crore nett depending on whether they are further pumped after the day. The portal even suggested it will be no surprise if they go all the way to Rs 40 crore nett.

What This Means For The Industry

Both Pinkvilla and Box Office India have expressed frustration with this practice. According to the reports, if the film had put up these numbers organically, it would have been a very good start for the genre. However, the current situation makes it impossible to analyze the film’s real performance or audience pull.

The practice of inflating numbers through block bookings has become a concerning trend. Trade sources point out that while this may build perception in headlines, it compromises the credibility of box office reporting. Real numbers used to be visible in billing systems, but now even those are reportedly being inflated.
