Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath Speaks On ‘Boycott Bollywood’ And Pathaan’s Controversy, Says, ‘Every Artist Should Be Respected, But The Film Director Should…!’

Meanwhile Pathaan has shattered all box office records on its very first day of release despite vandalism, protests, and boycott demands.

Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, spoke out about the ‘Besharm Rang’ controversy involving the Shah Rukh Khan movie ‘Pathaan’ and advised artists to be careful with what they portray on screen. 

After BJP officials and right-wing organisations stated the song, which featured Deepika Padukone and Shah Rukh Khan, disrespected the ‘saffron colour’ that is holy for the Hindu community, the Vishal-Shekhar-composed Pathaan song became the subject of controversy.

Following the whole matter, A lot of ‘Boycott Bollywood’ and ‘Boycott Pathaan’ calls were made on the grounds. Some people stated that the film has hurt their religion, and some movie theaters across the nation experienced vandalism—even on the film’s release day, January 25, itself.

According to News 18, While talking about ‘Boycott Bollywood’, CM Adityanath Yogi stated, “The film director should also take into consideration while making a film that it should not have scenes which could give rise to controversy or hurt public sentiments.”

He also said, “Any artist, litterateur or anyone with accomplishments should be respected. Uttar Pradesh has also made a policy for films and many films are being made in the state.”

The first person from Bollywood to come out against the “Boycott Bollywood” trend on social media was actor Suniel Shetty, who also pleaded the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh erase such hatred against Bollywood.

However, Prime Minister Narendra Modi warned BJP officials not to make unnecessary criticisms against films or individuals in order to gain attention a week before the release of Pathaan. The Prime Minister stated, “No one should make unnecessary comments that would overshadow the hard work we do.”

Meanwhile Pathaan has shattered all box office records on its very first day of release despite vandalism, protests, and boycott demands. The movie has now formally joined the Rs 400 cr club, becoming the first Hindi movie in history to reach that milestone.
