Varun Dhawan Expected To Shoot Bhediya 2 In Late 2025
Pinkvilla reports that Varun Dhawan’s appearance in Stree 2, directed by Amar Kaushik, was a labour of love. A source close to the project shared that Dhawan’s role as Bhediya holds special significance for both him and producer Dinesh Vijan.
The 2022 film Bhediya, featuring Kriti Sanon, was a hit and the duo is already gearing up for a sequel, Bhediya 2. Given the positive response to Dhawan’s cameo, they are excited to start working on the next chapter, aiming to hit the ground running by late 2025.
Stree 2 has also seen other notable cameos, including a special appearance by Akshay Kumar. His role, combined with his comedic chemistry with Abhishek Banerjee, has been a crowd-pleaser, adding extra excitement for the franchise’s future. The film’s creative twists have hinted at a more substantial role for Kumar in the next part.
Stree 2 Breaking Records At The Box Office
Meanwhile, Stree 2 is making impressive strides at the box office. In just seven days, the film has raked in Rs 284 crore, including previews from August 14, 2024. Despite facing competition from Akshay Kumar’s Khel Khel Mein and John Abraham’s Vedaa, Stree 2 has remained a standout hit.
Rajkummar Rao, who stars in Stree 2, recently discussed the potential future of the franchise in a conversation with Pinkvilla. He teased the idea of a massive crossover film, uniting characters from Stree, Bhediya, and Munjya. “It’s too early to say to be honest,”
Rao admitted. “But sure, that’s the reason this universe is building; that eventually, we can have that one big film where we will have a villain like Thanos, and Vicky like Iron Man and [pointing towards Shraddha Kapoor and hinting at Stree] Black Widow. So yes, that’s the plan. One major film. But before that, we are just building up the universe, slowly, till it reaches the top of the pyramid; now we have to make that one big film. But yes, it will happen.”
As the Stree universe continues to expand, fans can look forward to more thrilling developments and crossovers in the future.
