Director Nikkhil Advani recently shared his thoughts on the current state of Bollywood and his views on South Indian cinema in a recent interview. His discussion included insights from a past conversation with Telugu superstar Allu Arjun.
Vedaa Director Talks About His Conversation With Allu Arjun
Advani highlighted a common misconception about South cinema. He told Galatta Plus, “Everyone thinks of South cinema being mythology, but they take a raw emotion. Like water irrigation canals…let’s make a film about it. Now, they package that with incredible action and incredible moments of heroism.”
According to Advani, South films are not just about mythological tales but are deeply rooted in real emotions and heroism portrayed in unique settings.
During their conversation, Arjun expressed a critical view of Bollywood. Advani recalled, “When I met Allu Arjun, and we were talking about doing a film, he looked at me and said, you know what’s wrong with Bollywood? You’ve forgotten how to be heroes. It’s not mythology; it’s heroism that’s missing in Hindi films.”
Trailer Has Been Dropped After CBFC Certifies The Film
Advani’s upcoming film, Vedaa, starring John Abraham and Sharvari Wagh, is set for release on August 15, 2024. The film, a highly anticipated action thriller, will showcase a gripping narrative and dynamic performances.
However, the film faced a delay in certification by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The Vedaa team recently released a statement noting the delay, attributing it to the CBFC’s slow processing despite their efforts. The film was eventually certified U/A without any cuts. The trailer has also been released just a few hours back and it’s powerful in terms of action and emotion.
Talking about Allu Arjun, his highly anticipated Pushpa 2: The Rule, the sequel to Pushpa: The Rise, was initially slated for the same release date but has been postponed to December 2024.
The sequel will see Arjun reprise his role as Pushpa Raj, with Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil returning as Srivalli and Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat, respectively. Although Arjun has not appeared in another film since 2021, he has committed to upcoming projects with directors Sriram Venu, Trivikram, and Sandeep Reddy Vanga.
